These were my favorite target species - on a good find, one could catch 10 tonnes or more from a school of these & in the old days I saw schools in excess of 400 tonnes. Schools that stretched over a few miles, lasted for a week of heavy fishing & that filled up 30 trawlers. Those were the days & they are long gone now.
